i could simply say:
"it all started when i couldn't find a fourth course i liked in the fall semester of 2006. the idea of an independent study appealed to me and merry suggested i ask rick. so i did. then when i was in london, rick emailed to suggest that i prepare a proposal for summer research, so i did. when they wouldn't let me graduate with a double major in psychology and neuroscience, i wanted to graduate with honors if i could only stick to one major. after spending countless hours in that windowless box of a room, awkwardly scrubbing people's faces, and pulling many-oh-many all-nighters, i did write a thesis, presented it (after the due panic attack of course), and graduated with honors. i wanted to work after i graduated, but right then the economy totally crashed, leaving me with almost zero chance to compete against hordes of unemployed citizens with my visa-holder status. i got cool interviews though (so i can drop some names if you want). now i am here, asking you to accept me to school again, so i can do more research while i decide what to do with my life. thank you for your time.
ps. my advisor and recommender rick is the professor on discovery channel's 'most evil' on the episode about female serial killers, and i played the subject alongside him. our experiment looked nothing like what they showed there, but you know, fame has its consequences."
but i can't. darn.
i put in "phd in neuroscience, jobs" and google takes me to a dating site. message taken. sigh.
