"The study shows we are now in National Break-Up Season, the period between the December holidays and Valentine's Day when people are more than twice as likely to think about breaking up than at any other time of the year. January, with all its focus on resolutions to be healthier, richer, and happier, naturally leads couples to take stock of their relationships and think about whether they are with the right person." I must admit, it took me a really long to find a guy I can stand to spend more than 10 minutes with. Although -officially- he is not my boyfriend, we share pretty much everything with each other. I really couldn't ask for a better relationship. Yet, I can't help thinking about how much I don't want to become involved with someone; and, in return, he drives me crazy by insising that he's not head over heels for me, either! Ah..I know a lot of people that are perfectly content in relationships, and I commend them for that - but that doesn't mean I want one. Like I said several times, I enjoy the single life. First off, there's the logistics of it. I spend 8 months of the year on one side of the world, and 4 on the other. Seeing as I don't believe in long distance relationships (at least, NOT any more-- LDRs suck!) , this makes it near impossible to have a boyfriend. If you really love someone, it's awful to be far away from him, especially if there's no end in sight! Besides, I have trouble keeping in touch with my friends long distance, and definitely don't want to worry about a boy. Secondly, there's the whole title thing. It feels very possessive to me, and seems to complicate things unnecessarily. I'm generally super independent, but when the titles come out, I become this gross clingy person I don't like. More importantly, I'm a busy college student, and he is equally busy person, which sometimes makes finding time for each other difficult. Oh, I know he'll be so mad at me when he reads this.. And, as usual, he will ask why the heck I have to worry about this crap. I wish he will know how desperately I want not to care.. | ||
