This week I celebrated a birthday and for the first time in my life I couldn't think of anything else that I really wanted. I had already gotten all of my friends together, I got a half dozen cupcakes (and 3 full cups of frosting!), and I spent the entire day on the phone/facebook (Oh Facebook, how did we get along before you?) with the most important people in my life.. What more could a girl want?
Gosh!I've just turned the ripe age of 22. A few monumental moments of my life are gradually developing: I will be graduating in May. I will be moving in God-knows-where. I will (hopefully) have an assistantship so that I can proceed to my PhD. program. Worst of all, I will no longer be a ‘college student'...
But..Okay,That's it. No! I am not going to obsess about this. I am NOT even going to think about it. I am going to dream about..Jamaica. Spring break!
Oh yes, Spring Break.My God, I can't even explain how. effing. ready. I. am for spring break!!! I am simply looking forward to spending this week soaking up the sun and downing frozen cocktails! I'm pretty sure this is the first time I am excited to be rubbing aloe on my aching/burning skin after the treacherous winter that we've been put through this year -New York, I'm looking at you!
At this point, surely, I don't want to mention I have a HUGE research paper assigned for right after spring break. Right now, I'm stuck trying to figure out how to fit those bricks of 'Democracy in Divided Societies' textbooks into my suitcase without going over the weight limit and I have no idea how much fun is it going to be when I take my textbooks as a beach read! Phew!
Dear Professor E., do you think piling on the work during the time we're supposed to be recharging is actually going to accomplish anything -besides reducing your students into a withering puddle of stress less than a week back?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Alright, I won't let you ruin my perfect break down there. Hell. yes! Jamaica is going to be soo much fun - I cannot wait!!
