Personally, I just survived one of the harshest winters in years (if you live in a warm climate, I hate you), combined with a crapload of work and stress. So, since the weather got warmer, I've been thinking about going camping; and then deciding not to, thinking that I am not quite outdoorsy/camping kinda girl. Last weekend, however, I actually did it -thanks to Katy, who invited me to their camper. (This might or might not have anything to do with the fact that I was otherwise going to be homeless for 9 days before going back home at the end of the month). Amazingly enough, I enjoyed myself -a lot, more than I could ever imagine! For one thing, it was not a 'primitive' type of camping --I don't think I could handle a hardcore camping experience where you need to live in a tent and you have to go to the woods when you have to pee! That's just gross!! Their trailer was giant and comfortable enough for 7 of us (Katy, Yasi, Jeff, Marilyn, Kayla, Jen) with 3 rooms/ kitchen/normal-size bathroom; and most importantly with running-water and internet connection. We had so much fun, went to hang out at the lake, got a nasty farmers tan, played golf, sat around the campfire, roasted marshmallows, chatted along, laughed at Rob's silly questions about Turkey and ate oh-so-many yummy s'mores!
In the end, camping was a great way for me to kick back and get away from the stress of my new postgraduate life, and it was refreshing to surround myself with nothing but my good friends and the open air. What with the amounts of alcohol, s'mores, hot dogs, and other things that are super unhealthy for me, last weekend was an amazing way to relax before I need to deal with all the paperwork for and stress about the next semester!
