Ahh.. there's no place like home. Once I crossed the threshold of Home Sweet Home, I remembered just why it's so sweet.
No matter how much I loved my college experience, there is still a comfortable feeling associated with returning home.

Mom and dad. -Their initial bone crushing hugs and sporadic wistful looks followed by more hugs.
My old bed. -The second my head hit my pillow on that first night back in my old room, I instantly felt comfortable.
My old room. -Falling into it is like seeing an old friend.
Mom's cooking. -Mmmm. After a daily diet of fast food, dining hall "cuisine" and failed attempts at domesticity (and a pasta based backup plan) it is amazing to come home to fresh and delicious food.

Of course all of these aspects of going home are excellent, however, goin' back never feels the same. Something changes; it may be a tangible difference or a change in emotion, but it's different just the same. Right now, I feel like an adult, or a house guest in my own home.

Yet, my being guest in my home doesn't mean that I am no longer expecting a quick turnaround from "Our baby girl's finally home from college. We've missed you so much!" to "Honey! Babe! Are you going to start unpacking these boxes?!" And so it will begin: being back home with the parents:))
