they're just like buses, aren't they?..none is around for ages, then several come at once.
while you're trying to decide which one to take, though, you realize they are all gone.
or you choose one in haste, only to regret it afterwards.
or worse, none of them would be going in the direction you'd like to go.
you keep waiting, waiting and waiting for yours. then it hits you, the thing you have been waiting for has already gone by. plus, it was going in the other direction.
oh..the joys of waiting on the wrong side of the road for a bus that was already full!
